River Talk Recap: Steve Steubner at Idaho River Sports

Our River Talk series returned for the 2020 season with a talk by Steve Steubner at Idaho River Sports on February 18th. Steve is an avid hiker, mountain biker, and whitewater enthusiast and has written a number of guidebooks such as Paddling the Payette and The Owyhee Canyonlands: An Outdoor Adventure Guide.

A large crowd of over 50 people gathered at IRS to hear Steve talk about the Owyhee area and its amazing rivers in particular. He spoke of his connection to the Bruneau-Jarbidge and Owyhee River systems as he described past river trips taken on them. Many stretches of the area’s rivers were designated as Wild and Scenic in 2009. The decision was a culmination of years of stakeholder collaboration through avenues such as the Owyhee Initiative. His talk, a blend of information and story-telling, gave those in attendance a close look at this unique and special corner of Idaho.

Look out for information on our next River Talk, which will take place on the third Tuesday in March.
